And my standpoint, as a Christian, is that morality is prevalent in every culture because God included it in us when He created each one of us. So, I see it as something which has its origin in God, but isn't necessarily affected by a religious orientation.

Religion isn't the basis for morals. Morals are the basis for religion. I, obviously, do not think God created morals. Humans have created morals through the process of evolution, to some extent.

But that makes no sense. Many times, morals don't benefit the person being moral. "No good deed goes unpunnished." As evolutionary creatures, why would we sacrifice something of ourselves or deny ourselves some gratification for others?

When you look at nature, where it truly is survival of the fittest, animals very rarely act morally. Even housepets only behave once they've been trained to avoid punnishment by doing so. No, I don't believe morals could've evolved.
